In this project, graphical explorations were created out of diptychs, and these graphical explorations were synthesized into one image. This drawing or image was turned into a series of subtractive operations within a wooden material. The process of creating depth within the image was about the concept of translating flat drawing into dimensional thickness, the utilization of shadow, and the expression of materiality. ways in which the 3 axis CNC machine operates were studied, the way in which different tooling bits can create surface expression, and using tool path parameters as design generators.
